Vancouver First Night Celebration
Vancouver Celebration of the Arts Society
January 15, 1992
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter will introduce Rick Lewis, performer extraordinaire. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
I have seen Rick perform in a variety of venues: streets, squares, stages, and in our own festival. The combination of excellent skills and sheer charisma guarantees that the audience is both huge and enthralled, and Rick is widely known among producers as the act to get for any event for all ages.
Further, Rick is a joy to work with; no tantrums, no muss, no fuss, adaptable, punctual, easy going and above all, professional. It really is impossible to say enough without using a long string of superlatives.
You should hire him.
Yours very truly,
Catherine E. Lowther
Producer

(The Vancouver First Night celebration was first introduced to the city in the early 1990s and from the beginning of the project there were challenges to overcome, which ultimately led to the discontinuation of First night altogether in later years as an entertainment event and entertainment festival. Each year drinking and vandalism increased until the audiences who turned out to be entertained by street performers, stage acts, comedians, bands and performance teams were staying away due to the unruly behavior of a growing contingent. This presented a problem in gaining the confidence and approval of Vancouver City Hall in future years even though the entertainment celebration remained wanted and enjoyed by much of the city. In recent years First Night has been reinstated under new management and entertainment on New Year's eve has been free to audiences of many thousands with much greater success.)
